Lola Davis
Lola Ruth Davis of Hermiston passed away at the age of 90 on Thursday, Feb. 13, at Saint Alphonsus Medical Center in Ontario with family members by her side.

Lola was born on Oct. 16, 1923, to Benjamin and Ellen Rogers in a post camp near Lonerock, where her father made posts and cut wood for a living. Her older sister Ethel assisted in her delivery.

Lola married Homer Davis at the age of 17. As a young bride, she and her husband resided in Kinzua, where both worked at the saw mill until Homer entered military service. Once out of the service, they purchased a small ranch south of Lonerock where they raised their four children while farming wheat and alfalfa and raising livestock.

In 1977, Lola moved to Hermiston and was employed by Marlette Homes until retirement.

Lola was a woman of great faith and a very active member in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. She extended God’s love through her many acts of service. She passionately enjoyed helping her grandchildren with their many school activities and functions.

Lola loved the outdoors and looked forward to springtime. She loved planning her summer camping adventures with her family. Hunting, fishing, and outdoor activities with her family members, were her passions. Lola was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing and sharing meals with her family.

Lola is survived by her brother, Lloyd Rogers (Condon, OR); four of her children, Carolyn Holt and husband Chuck (New Plymouth, ID), Evan Davis (Hermiston), Cris Davis and wife Linda (Hermiston), and Hildred Ells and husband David (Walla Walla, WA); five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Lola is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ethel Harrison and Rachel Moore; brothers, Clarence and Robert Rogers; and her infant, son Roger Davis.

We will miss her deeply but will take comfort in knowing she is no longer in pain and is in a better place.

Funeral services were held at the Hermiston Seventh-day Adventist Church. Burial followed at the Lonerock Cemetery.
