Hermiston Rotary Foundation Awards $60,500 in Student Scholarships

The Hermiston Rotary Club Foundation, a 501(c) 3 charitable organization, awarded $60,500 in scholarships to support 28 local students advancing their education in trade schools, colleges, and overseas study programs.

The 2024 scholarship recipients are:

  • Laura Meyers — $2,000
  • Kamryn Boston — $2,000
  • John Mills — $1,500
  • Lillian Rose Chase — $2,500
  • Leah Mueller — $2,500
  • Lilly Cooke — $2,500
  • Elijah Robinson — $1,500
  • Jacob Culligan — $2,500
  • Crystal Rodelo — $2,000
  • Elizabeth Doherty — $2,500

A key part of each application was a short essay about how the “Rotary 4-Way Test,” a guide by which all Rotarians are challenged to live and manage their lives, could be or has been incorporated into the student’s life. The Rotary Challenge asks: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build good will and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

The Hermiston Rotary Club has 88 members supporting local community enhancement projects and annually donate time and funding for: Student scholarships, Agape House, Christmas Express, Arbor Day Tree Give Away, Shelter Box, and more.

Rotary International has more than 46,000 member clubs and 1.4 million members worldwide. Clubs consist of members who have come together with the mission of denoting their time, resources and financial support to improve local, regional and national communities. One of Rotary’s many achievements is helping lead the eradication of Polio throughout the world.
