The Hermiston School District has a familiar face as its new chief communications officer.
The district on its website announced the hire of Maryanna Hardin for the position on March 4.
Born and raised in Hermiston, Hardin is a graduate of Hermiston High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Eastern Oregon University and a master’s degree in strategic communications from Liberty University.
Hardin has worked in education throughout her entire career, according to the district’s announcement.
“She not only understands but embodies the district’s core values and commitment to being future-focused,” according to the Hermiston School District. “Her dedication to public education goes beyond a job; it is a profound part of her life.”
Hardin spent two years teaching at West Park Elementary School. Her passion for education and innovation led her to the Kennewick School District’s information technology department, where she honed her skills and gained insights into the combination of communication and innovation.
Hardin’s goal as chief communications officer is to implement a comprehensive communication strategy, according to the school district, to enhance transparency and engagement within the Hermiston School District community. She aims to prioritize clear, timely and accessible communication to strengthen relationships, build trust and ultimately enhance the overall experience for students and families within the Hermiston School District.
