The Hermiston School District wants to inform local businesses and the community that a scam caller is contacting local businesses asking that they advertise in a calendar for Sandstone Middle School.
This person claims to be affiliated with ASF Direct and is not affiliated with Sandstone Middle School or the district, according to district officials.
Any advertising or sponsorship initiated by Hermiston School District programs will come directly from Larry Usher, the district’s director of athletics and activities, or Lindy Thompson, the athletic secretary.
“I am very disturbed that someone would try to scam our community in this manner,” said Sandstone Middle School Principal Lori Monaco-Mills. “It is my hope that people would know that no district employee would ever try to scam our hardworking community members.”
The district advises community members to not engage in a conversation with the scam caller, and instead, hang up and call the police department.
