The Hermiston School District has earned its 16th straight award for financial reporting.

The district’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2021, qualified for the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada’s (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for  demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate the district’s financial story and motivate individuals to read the report.

This award is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

When a Certificate of Achievement is awarded to a government, an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement (AFRA) is also presented to the individual(s) or department designated by the government as primarily responsible for its having earned the Certificate.

“The district’s business department staff is top-notch,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Tricia Mooney. “Receiving this award for the sixteenth time is a testament to their hard work. We also have great leadership from the school board as well as community members who have served on the budget committee. Together as a whole, each of them has helped the district maintain exemplary financial stewardship.”
