The Hermiston School District Communications Team has earned national acclaim after receiving the 2024 National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) Award of Excellence in Video Series.
The recognition is part of NSPRA’s Publications and Digital Media Excellence Awards, which honors achievements in educational publications, marketing, and informational materials (both print and digital), video productions, and broadcasts across TV and radio, as well as social media and website initiatives.
The award celebrates the communication team’s entry, “Beyond the Bulletin: FriYay Videos and Reinvention of Community Engagement,” produced in-house by the district’s video producer, Roger Pope.
“Collaborating weekly with Roger on our FriYay videos for our staff and community has been both an honor and a joy,” said District Superintendent Dr. Tricia Mooney. “Roger is among the most gifted individuals I’ve encountered, investing his whole heart into every project. I deeply appreciate our communication team’s dedication and hard work. Their relentless efforts to engage and inform our community are truly admirable.”
Communications Officer Maryanna Hardin praised the district’s communications team.
“This national award showcases the tireless efforts of the communications team in ensuring our staff and community stay informed about our schools,” she said. “Roger Pope is
extremely talented; we are incredibly fortunate to have him be a part of the Hermiston School District. I’ve worked with Roger from my time as a communications assistant to my current role as the communications officer, and his creativity knows no bounds. It truly takes a team effort to achieve what we do.”
