The city of Hermiston is updating its Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Master Plan and is seeking public input.

Community members are encouraged to attend an open house to provide feedback on the key recommendations in the plan update. The open house will be held at the Hermiston Community Center, 415 S. Highway 395 on Thursday, March 19 from 5:30-7 p.m. Information will be provided in English and Spanish.

The update began in July 2019 and is on track to be completed in April.

The city gathered information and ideas from residents through an online survey, several pop-up events, and stakeholder interviews to learn more about what parks and recreation facilities the city can improve or provide in the future.

Following the open house, updates to the plan will be completed before the city seeks plan adoption in April.

  1. As a former resident of the area, this looks like the park that was recently severed damaged in the recent flood and as I recall it’s not the first time it’s been flooded. Perhaps a levy as protection from future flood damage would be appropriate.
