The Hermiston Parks and Recreation Department is inviting the community to join Moda Health and the Portland Trailblazers for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new all-abilities playground at Sunset Park on Thursday, Sept. 7 at 4 p.m.

Members of the Hermiston community have each other to thank for the new playground. Last spring, they cast enough votes – 19,519 – to win the Trailblazers’ Moda Assist Program contest to receive funds for all-abilities equipment.

Everyone who comes will get a chance to win a basketball autographed by the entire Blazers team and a poster signed by Damian Lillard.

There will be free basketball clinics for boys and girls ages 7-10, and you must register online. Four different sessions will be offered, and each is limited to 10 participants.

Sunset Park is located at Northeast Fourth Street and East Dogwood Avenue. For more information, call the parks department at 541-667-5018.
