The city of Hermiston is notifying the public of fraudulent calls made by people claiming to be from an electric utility company.

According to the city, Hermiston Energy Services (HES) has received information that people are calling pretending to be electricity providers and saying they will disconnect services if payment is not made immediately over the phone.

HES has a process in place prior for disconnecting services and will never call to threaten with immediate disconnect. If you get a suspicious call, hang up. The public is encouraged to call HES (541-289-2000) directly if you are unsure of your account status.
