Hermiston Welcomes First Baby of 2016

Hermiston welcomed its first baby of 2016 when Edgar Orozco II was born on at 2:51 a.m. on Jan. 3 to Jaqueline Maya and Edgar Orozco at Good Shepherd Health Care System’s (GSHCS) Family Birth Center.

Edgar II was delivered by Leila Keeler, D.O., and weighed five pounds and 10 ounces, and came in at 19 inches long. This is the Maya-Orozco family’s first baby. Baby Edgar joins an estimated 10,289 babies born each day in the United States.

As for baby Edgar II, the GSHCS Family Birth Center welcomed him with a basket of goodies including baby wipes, a layette, blanket, soothe and glow giraffe, bath soaps and towel, temperature duck, home safety items, case of diapers, and a footprint and handprint baby wall photo frame. It is estimated that during the first year of life baby Edgar II will use about 2,788 diapers – as calculated by Kids Grow.

On average the GSHCS Family Birth Center delivers 400 babies per year. Services at the Family Birth Center include a comfortable couch and rocking chair, each room is equipped with a Jacuzzi soaking tub to help ease labor discomfort and caring nurses who have Obstetric Nursing Certification, lactation consulting, and support staff.
