Hermiston Woman Suffers Serious Injuries in Motorcycle Accident

A Hermiston woman was flown to a Portland hospital Sunday after being injured in a motorcycle accident on W. Harper Road.

According to the Hermiston Police Department, Daisy Burton, 50, was part of a group of riders traveling eastbound on W. Harper Road when her motorcycle struck the back of another bike and she was thrown onto the roadway. According to Cpt. Scott Clark, Burton was reported to be traveling at a higher rate of speed than the other riders.

The accident happened around 11:30 a.m. Hermiston police, Umatilla County Fire District #1, and Oregon State Police responded to the scene. Burton was initially taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center for serious injuries before being flown to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland.

One other motorcycle passenger was taken to Good Shepherd by family members after complaining of pain. The other rider involved was not injured.
