Barbara Ann Carrera died on Jan. 13, 2016 at her home in Hermiston at the age of 55.
She was born on July 27, 1960 in Platte, S.D. to Anton and Viola Kolb Petrak. She was raised and attended school in Chamberlain, South Dakota, graduating in the class of 1978. Barbara was united in marriage to Jesus Carrera on November 28, 1980 in Chamberlain, South Dakota and they moved to Hermiston, Oregon. She worked at JR Simplot in Hermiston, Oregon for 25 years. She operated a daycare for a few years and is an Avon Representative. Barbara was a member of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, Hermiston, Oregon. She enjoyed crocheting, soap operas, reality tv, camping, fishing, and cherished time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years: Jesus Carrera, Hermiston, OR; son: Tony Carrera & his wife Janelle, Hermiston, OR; daughter: Jessica Blackford & her husband Jason, Portland, OR; brothers: Melvin and Robert Petrak, both of Chamberlain, SD; sister: Diana Bondurant, Hermiston, OR; grandchildren: Dylan, Perrin, Payton, Layni, & Portia; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents.
Recitation of the rosary will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, Hermiston. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 1:30 P.M.
Burial will follow at the Hermiston Cemetery, Hermiston, Oregon.
