Hermiston's Bev Hall Passes Away at Age 69

Beverley Jean “Bev” Hall died on Jan. 28, 2015 at her home in Hermiston at the age of 69.

She was born on Sept. 22, 1945 in Wallowa to Fredrick and Vera Shelton Hockett. Bev was raised and attended schools in Hermiston. She graduated from Hermiston High School in the class of 1963. Bev lived most of her life in Hermiston. She worked as a cook at McCabe’s Restaurant, at the McNary Dam, at the deli in Wal-Mart, and she also worked at McNary Dam as a fish counter and on grounds maintenance. Bev had a natural calling for helping and caring for others. She enjoyed reading, spending time with her grand-babies, her kids, cooking, the outdoors, the ocean, and gardening. Bev had a genuine sweet tooth.

She is survived by her children, Triena White, Patrick Johnston (Melanie), Andrew Johnston, and Charley Sowell(Daniel), all of Hermiston; sisters, Dorothy Hinton (Tom), Milton Freewater, Barbara Warnock (Grant), Imnaha; brothers, Wayne Hockett (Patricia), Milton Freewater, Harry Hockett (Priscilla), Pendleton; grandchildren, Emilie Hall, Travis White (Alexandria), Joshua King, David Johnston, Jennifer Stillman (Isaac), Jessica Johnston, & Jacob Johnston; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bev was preceded in death by her parents; and two grandsons, Patrick Johnston and Gregory White.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015 at 4 p.m. at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston.
