Hermiston’s Butch Dixon Passes Away at 72

Paul F. “Butch” Dixon died on May 29, 2017 at his home in Hermiston at the age of 72.

He was born on Feb. 16, 1945 in Fresno, Calif. to Paul O. and Estelle H. Chasteen Dixon.

He was raised and attended schools in northern California. He moved to Oregon in 1962 and was united in marriage to H. Arlene Helfer on Aug. 14, 1964 in Vancouver, Wash. They lived in Keizer until 1975, when they moved to Hermiston, where they have lived since.

Butch owned and operated Dixon Brothers Plumbing for many years. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed hunting, camping and playing cards, and he was an old Cadillac buff.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Arlene Dixon, Hermiston; sons, Gregory Dixon and his wife Amber, Umatilla, and James Dixon and his wife Terra, Hermiston; brother, Jimmy Ray Dixon, La Pine; sister, Ida Fay Litell, Sacramento, Calif.; grandchildren, Jessica, Zach, Amy, Amanda and Thomas; great granddaughter, Harper; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life service was held on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 4 p.m. at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston. A gathering for family and friends followed at Bellinger’s The Gathering Place.
