Douglas L. Moyer, longtime Hermiston resident, died on Nov. 10, 2015 at his home in Hermiston at the age of 77.
He was born on Feb. 2, 1938 in Emmett, Idaho to Clyde R. and Maxine E. Brinson Moyer. When Doug was little his family moved to Hermiston where he was raised and attended school. He then joined the United States Air Force and served from 1955 until his honorable discharge in 1959. Doug was united in marriage to Judith A. Vondy on Nov. 2, 1958 in Hermiston. They lived in Boise, Idaho for a time before returning to Hermiston in 1967 where they raised their family and worked. Doug worked at the Wagon Yard, Northwest Motor Home, and later at the Umatilla County Fair Grounds before retiring. After retirement Doug was able to fulfill his lifelong dream of living in the mountains. They lived at Blake Ranch outside of Heppner for several years and Doug was able to work cattle drives and enjoy the outdoors. They then returned to Hermiston where they have lived for the past several years. He enjoyed the mountains, hunting, fishing, and for many years showed and promoted Appaloosa Horses. Doug was always a frog in a skillet, never one to sit still.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years: Judy Moyer, Hermiston; daughter: Di Fordice and husband Bob, Hermiston; son: Douglas Moyer, Fayetteville, GA; brother: Roy Moyer, Milton Freewater; sister: Loretta Dyer, Hermiston; grandchildren: Dusty, Tyler, James, & Lauren; great-granddaughter: Haleigh.
