Ernest Henry Tucker passed away at his home in Hermiston on Dec. 8, 2015.
He was born Aug. 26, 1920 in Seminole, Okla.,, to Noel Ernest Tuckers and Sarah “Mittie” Taylor Tucker.
Mr. Tucker worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps as a young man then joined the US Army Air Corps after high school. He served as a technical sergeant with and Eighth Air Force bomber squadron, flying missions over Germany.
He married Margaret Louise Jennings on May 1, 1943 in Douglas, Ariz. The couple had three children: Lynda Louise, Lucinda Anne, and Richard Ernest.
The couple made their home in several places around the world while Mr. Tucker worked as a telecommunications engineer, including contract work in Vietnam and Laos during the Vietnam War.
They retired to Florida in 1986 and lived there until 2004 when they lost their home in a hurricane. They then lived in Georgia before moving to Hermiston in 2010.
He was predeceased by his parents and twin sister Bernice Oliver, sisters Irma Clonts and Lois Spray, and Brother Clifford Tucker. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; children Lynda Carraher of Umatilla, Oregon, Lucinda Welenc of Severn, Maryland, and Richard Tucker of Everett, Washington, as well as five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
