Hermiston's Frances Beck Passes Away at 89

Frances E. “Sis” Papineau Beck passed away on July 1, 2016 in Hermiston from complications after a stroke, surrounded by family and friends at the age of 89.

She was born on February 8, 1927 in Austin, Oregon to parents, Agnes Schoonover Papineau and Frank Papineau. Frances went by “Sis” most of her life due to being raised with five brothers. She was raised in the Lexington and Heppner, Oregon area. Frances married William “Bill” Beck on November 30, 1943 in Hood River, Oregon at the age of 16. They had two daughters, Donna & Phyllis. They were married for 58 years when Bill preceded her in death in 2001. Frances was a homemaker, daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother. Always a good friend to all she met. She loved to sew, cook, and raise flowers. Several grandchildren made birdhouses with her help. Having been raised around sawmills, she loved the smell of fresh cut wood.

She is survived by her daughters: Donna Van Zante & her husband Wayne, Clarkston, WA; Phyllis Mayes, Hermiston, OR; brothers: Ray Papineau & wife Gay, and Earl Papineau & wife Edith, both of Lexington, OR; 4 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and 3 brothers: Freddie, Wayne, & Dale Papineau.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at the Lexington Cemetery, Lexington, Oregon. A luncheon will follow at the Rebecca’s Lodge in Lexington.
