Halcyone E. Cobb, 86, of Hermiston, passed away Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014 in Hermiston.

She was born May 19, 1928 in Portland to William Taylor and Irma Marsh. She married Norman M. Cobb in February 1950 and shortly thereafter relocated to Hawaii when her husband was called back to active duty during the Korean War. At the conclusion of the conflict they moved back to Portland and started a family.

After raising her family she worked for the First National Bank of Oregon. Halcyone and her husband enjoyed traveling, making a cross country trip shortly after retiring and traveling to the Japan and Australia to visit their son in the military. The last 25 years she lived in Central Oregon, first in LaPine where she helped her husband build their “mountain home,” then in Redmond when it became necessary to live closer to medical facilities. During that time she performed volunteer work at the local library when not assisting in the care of her husband.

After her husband passed away Halcyone moved to Hermiston to be close to relatives. While living in Hermiston she enjoyed shopping at the farmers market and eating lunch and visiting with her friends at the Hermiston and Stanfield Senior centers. Halcyone is survived by her two sons, Joe Cobb of Hermiston and Norman (Rick) Cobb of Dumfries, Virginia; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a brother, Robert Taylor of Vancouver, Wash.

Halcyone will be laid to rest at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland with her husband and life partner. Services will be held at the cemetery on Monday, Oct. 13 at 1 p.m.

Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in care of arrangements.
