Hermiston’s Hazel Westfall Passes Away at 90

Hazel Marie Westfall died on July 7, 2017 in Hermiston at the age of 90.

She was born on Feb. 27, 1927 in Choteau, Mont. to Clarence and Dorothy Culp Alum.

She was raised and attended schools in Montana. She was united in marriage to Burlin Westfall on Oct. 22, 1943 in Choteau, Mont. They lived in California, Oregon, Texas and Oklahoma before settling in Oregon in 1961, where Hazel had lived since.

She was a fulltime homemaker, raising their 10 children. She enjoyed baking, cooking, arts and crafts, crocheting, gardening and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

She is survived by her daughters, Pauline Counts, Hermiston, Annita Harwell, Idaho, Carolyn Ellit, The Dalles, Charlotte Weivada, Wilsonville, Delores Davidson, Dufur and Dorothy Duke, Bend; sons, Kenneth Westfall, John Day and Gale Westfall, Portland; sisters, Ruth Bullock, Columbia Falls, Mont., Verna Larsen, Fairfield, Mont. and Sharon Larsen, Choteau, Mont.; brother, Frank Alum, Fairfield, Mont.; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Delbert Westfall, and a daughter, Donna McCall.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Desert Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Irrigon.
