Helmut W. Bethmann passed away on May 19, 2016 at his home in Hermiston at the age of 62.
He was born on Nov. 15, 1953 in Augsburg, Germany to parents, Wilhelm F. and Maria T. Bethmann. Helmut served in the United States Navy on the USS Oriskany from 1973 until 1976 during the Vietnam era. He then served in the Naval Reserves for four years until his honorable discharge. He worked as a truck driver for well over 30 years. However, if you were to ask him what his occupation was, he’d tell you, provider. Helmut was a loving husband and father. He dedicated his life to his family, working hard to provide the best he could for them. He raised three wonderful loving children that are a reflection of his love for them and their love for him. The example he set for them will live on through them, for the rest of their lives.
Helmut loved his dogs, Little Bud and Lacey. He enjoyed computers, role playing games, fishing, listening to music, working on his property and in his shop. Helmut loved watching his granddaughter Madison play soccer and spending time with her. Recently he had a chance to meet his other granddaughter, Chasey, and spend time with her. Helmut loved both his granddaughters very much. He will truly be missed by all that knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of over 35 years: Kimberly E. Bethmann; daughter: Amber J. Bethmann; sons: Peter J. and Joseph M. Bethmann; granddaughters: Madison R. Hunt and Chasey A. Bethmann; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law: Jimmie E. and Ruth E. Ford; 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
