Hermiston's Jackie Smith Passes Away at 70

Jacquelyn R. “Jackie” Smith died on April 1, 2015 at her home in Hermiston at the age of 70.

She was born on Nov. 4, 1944 in Ontario Raymond and Mary Corbett Lamb. Jackie attended schools in Ashland, graduating from Ashland High School in the class of 1962. She lived in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Ohio before returning to Oregon. Jackie was united in marriage to Gene Smith on May 27, 1976 in Lewiston, Idaho. They have lived in Hermiston since. Jackie sold real estate for a time and has spent many years raising thoroughbred and Appaloosa horses for show and racing. She published the Appaloosa Club newsletter for several years and was the Oregon Appaloosa Racing Association secretary/treasure for several years. Jackie enjoyed traveling, flowers, was very creative, and loved birds of all kinds.

She is survived by her husband, Gene Smith, Hermiston; daughter, Tracia Nunnally, Hermiston; brother, Mike Corbett, Hermiston; sisters, Diane Corbett, Hermiston, Karen Johnson, Portland; and a niece, Debbie.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; and her son, Stacson Nunnally.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Hermiston Cemetery.
