Allison “Kay” Netherda (Marlnee) of Hermiston passed away on Friday, May 15, 2015, while admitted at Good Shepherd Hospital. She was 53 years old. Her family was at her side.

Kay was born on Sept. 25, 1961 in Chanute, Kan., to her Billy Ray and Frances Marlnee. She grew up in Seaside and attended Seaside High School where she always had fond memories of being a cheerleader. She moved to Alaska for a brief amount of time and loved living there, but she loved a man in Hermiston more. In December 1993, the day before Christmas Eve, she married her longtime sweetheart, Al Netherda.

The Netherdas chose Hermiston to raise their two children, their eldest, Rachel and younger son, Calvin. Kay was a longtime member and volunteer at the Stanfield Moose Lodge where she loved all who came in contact with her. She just had that gift of making a stranger a friend and she had many friends who loved and adored her.

Kay is survived by her husband, Al; daughter, Rachel;son, Calvin; mother, Frances Marlnee of Weiser, Idaho; older sister, Rhonda Marlnee of Hood River; younger brother, Sheldon Marlnee of Eugene; niece, Aimee Marie Bartlett of Seaside; sons, Ryan Mclaughin of Eugene, Keith Wilson of Hillsboro; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. She is preceded in death by her father, Billy Ray Marlnee; and her older sister, Tina Marlnee.

Kay will be cremated and her ashes will be scattered in Seaside, Oregon as she requested before her death. This will be a private party memorial by invitation of family. The family is grateful for the condolences, but declines flowers and donations or requests any donations to be given to local charity of choice.

There will be a celebration of Kay’s Life ceremony on Wednesday, May 20, at the Stanfield Moose Lodge from 5 to 9 p.m.
