LaVada G. Forbes passed away in Hermiston on Dec. 11, 2017 at the age of 83.
She was born on Feb. 11, 1934 in Colome, S.D. to Leonard and Lena Blam Crume.
LaVada lived in South Dakota for several years until her family moved to Umatilla, where she attended school. She married Kenneth Forbes on April 6, 1953 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Kenneth served in the Army for 20 years, and the family traveled extensively during that time. All their children were born in different states. In 1975 they moved to Hermiston, where LaVada had resided since.
She was a member of the Eagles Lodge and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed camping, cooking and playing board games with her friends, and loved spending time with her family. LaVada was a good friend and loved by many who knew her.
She is survived by her son, Ken Forbes; daughters, Viola Phillips, Debra (Anthony) Hull and Sandra (Bret) Hector; 14 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sisters, Leona Harpster and Loretta Erager; and brother, Llewellen Crume.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; son, Leo; and several brothers and sisters.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017 at the Burns Mortuary Chapel, 685 W. Hermiston Ave.
