Martha Zimmerman died on June 30, 2016 at her home in Hermiston at the age of 100.
She was born on Sept. 5, 1915 in Harding County, S.D., to Christian and Marie Joachim Albrecht. Martha was raised and attended schools in South Dakota. She was united in marriage to John Zimmerman on August 12, 1934 in Reeder, North Dakota. They later moved to Spokane, Wash. Martha worked as a secretary at a doctors office and then for many years at an automobile dealership. She and John managed a Motel 6 for several years. Martha moved to Troutdale in 1991 after John died to live with her son, James and daughter-in-law, Sandra. They moved to Hermiston in 2003 where they have lived since. Martha attended the Country Church in Hermiston. She enjoyed gardening and traveling.
She is survived by her son: James Zimmerman & daughter-in-law: Sandra, Hermiston; grandchildren: Jamie and Tovar; great grandson: Wesley; numerous nieces and nephews.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband: John Zimmerman; son: Wesley Zimmerman; brother: Emil Albrecht; and sisters: Lydia Kennedy and Esther Haugen.
A celebration of life service will be held at the Country Church 32742 Diagonal Road in Hermiston at a date and time yet to be determined.
