Hermiston's Maxine Marcum Passes Away at 57

Maxine Marie Marcum of Hermiston died on Feb. 12, 2017 in Hermiston at the age of 57.

She was born on May 5, 1959 in Hermiston to Harold and Thelma Girvin Marcum. Maxine went to school in Stanfield graduating from Oregon Trail High School in 1977 and then attending Blue Mountain Community College for one year. She loved playing volleyball and tennis through her high school and college years. After college, Maxine went to work for Pendleton Grain Growers in the Hermiston office where she performed clerical duties for many years. She later worked for Banner Bank in the processing center. Maxine became a foster caregiver around 2010/2011 to a longtime friend and continued helping him until her own health declined. Maxine was a generous, loving, and caring person who would do anything for any friend or family member. Outside of family time she loved making quilts, trips to the beach, and baking for people she loved.

She is survived by her 10 brothers: Dennis & wife Linda, Plymouth, WA, Eldon, Stanfield, Mike & wife Rosie, Hermiston, Gary & wife Carol, Hermiston, Kirk, Stanfield, John & wife Charlene, Echo, Dean & wife Lawrie, Stanfield, Lloyd, Hermiston, Wes & wife DeeDee, Walla Walla, WA, Phil, Echo; 5 sisters: Donna Kennedy & husband Delbert, Hermiston, Judy Fazette & husband Bud, Hastings, MI, Kathy Findley & husband Ron, Ontario, Jennie Clymer, Stanfield, Norma Kightlinger & husband Mark, La Grande; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces, nephews, one uncle and 2 aunts.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston.

Private burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Stanfield.
