Herman “Roger” Martin died on Aug. 23, 2016 in Morton, Wash., at the age of 75.
He was born on May 10, 1941 in Garden City, Kan., to Ralph Herman and Eunice Kay McGraw Martin. Roger was raised in Kansas and then joined the United States Army. After his honorable discharge he married Barbara J. Edmondson on July 22, 1966 in Olympia, Wash. They lived in Blue Springs, Mo., for 15 years and then moved to Hermiston in the early 1980s where they have lived since. Roger worked as the manger for C&B Livestock for several years and then for Brian Wolfe Ranch until he retired in 2012. He enjoyed rodeos where he competed from as early as when he was in the Army until he watched them as a spectator for many years. Roger enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, watching and supporting youth sports, and had a passion for PBR.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years: Barbara Martin, Hermiston, OR; children: Billie Primmer, Irrigon, OR, Ty Leland Martin, Hermiston, OR, Tina Luck, Las Vegas, NV; brother: Don Martin, Blue Springs, MO; 5 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of life potluck gathering will be held on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Butte Park, N.W. Seventh St., Hermiston.
