Hermiston's Ron Conant Passes Away at Age 70

Roland E. “Ron” Conant died on March 15, 2015 at his home in Hermiston at the age of 70.

He was born on April 28, 1944 in New London, Conn., to James E. and Rose C. Batty Conant. Ron was raised and attended school in Connecticut. He moved to the Hermiston area in 1967 where he worked in well drilling and construction. Ron was united in marriage to Rebecca A. “Becky” Britain on May 1, 1974 in the Tri Cities, Wash. He worked for Wallace Well Drilling for 24 years and then for Umatilla Redi Mix from 2000 until retiring in 2013. Ron enjoyed hunting and was an avid fisherman.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Becky Conant, Hermiston; children, William “Bill” Conant (Debbie), Hermiston, Roland “JR” Conant Jr. (Tammy), Hermiston, Charles E. McCorkle (Sharon), Umatilla, Ann Marie Aldrich, Lacy, Wash., and Christine Rose Loveland (Jerry Young), Hermiston; mother-in-law, Grace A. Britain, Hermiston; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren with one on the way.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life gathering for family and friends will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2015 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the family home.
