Ronald E. Fisher of Irrigon died on Nov. 30, 2016 in Hermiston at the age of 63.
He was born on Oct. 26, 1953 in Camp Pendleton, Calif., to David King Fisher and Blanche Marie VanAuken Fisher. Ron was raised and attended school in Stanfield. He started working on area farms at the age of 11, moving irrigation and working his way up to being in charge of the crew to make sure the job was completed. Ron joined the United States Army in and served for 18 months in Vietnam and several years in Germany. While in Germany he married Beata and they had a son, Johan and daughter, Beata. Ron’s wife and daughter were both killed in an automobile accident. He was honorably discharged in 1985 and returned to Stanfield. He moved to Portland for work before returning to the Hermiston area in 2001. Ron was united in marriage to Roseann Rood on Jan. 19, 2002 in Hermiston. He went to work at the WalMart Distribution Center in 2003 where he worked until he retired in 2013. Ron loved to fish, hunt, travel and ride motorcycles. He cherished time with his family and friends. Ron could tell a story like nobody else, and enjoyed doing it.
He is survived by his loving wife: Rosie Fisher, Irrigon, OR; sons: Johan Fisher, Frankfurt, Germany, David K. Fisher, Aberdeen, WA, Neil Fisher, Springfield, VA, Daniel Fisher & Jeannie, Portland, OR; daughters: Dorothy Fisher, Portland, OR, Rosie Meyers & Brad, Hermiston, OR, Kalinn Prouty & Bart, Irrigon, OR, Sylvia Virgen, Hermiston, OR, Lucia Abel & Jason, Birch Bay, WA; Eliann Nguyen, Springfield, VA; sisters: Sandra Tisdale, Debbie Higginbotham, Rita Rayner & Twylia Wickersham; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife Beata & daughter, Beata; granddaughter: Angelica Fisher, and his two brothers: Marlin Fisher and David Fisher.
A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston. Burial with military honors will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Stanfield.
