Hermiston's Winona Yeigh Passes Away at 61

Winona A. Yeigh died on Dec. 3, 2015 at her home in Hermiston at the age of 61.

She was born on Dec. 11, 1953 in John Day to Jess and Bertina Lofton Carey. Winona was raised and attended school in Pilot Rock. She graduated from Pilot Rock High School in the class of 1972. She lived in Irrigon and later moved to Hermiston where she has lived since. Winona worked for Lamb Weston for 22 years and most recently drove taxi in Hermiston for 10 years. She had been a member of the both the Stanfield and Irrigon Moose Lodges over the years. She enjoyed playing pool, fishing, crocheting, traveling, playing games, and most of all cherished time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons: Josh Yeigh and Nerissa, Hermiston, OR, & Tyson Carey and Kayleen, Pasco, WA; brothers: Daryl Carey, Irrigon, OR, & Dee Carey, Umatilla, OR; 4 grandchildren with 1 on the way; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Winona was preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration of life gathering was held on December 11, 2015 at the Umatilla Baptist Church.
