Two Hermiston High School seniors will have a much easier time paying for college next fall.
Evelin Contreras Cardenas and Guadalupe Esparza, who will both attend the University of Oregon next school year, have been named Ford Scholars.
This scholarship program, offered by The Ford Family Foundation, meets 90 percent of a student’s financial need, up to $40,000 per year, for four years of college.
Over the past three years, Hermiston High School has witnessed nine students, including Cardenas and Esparza, receive this scholarship.
“Evelin and Guadalupe’s achievements are a testament to their hard work and the supportive environment at Hermiston High School,” said Superintendent Dr. Tricia Mooney. “We are incredibly proud of all our Ford Scholars and look forward to their continued success.”
Up to 130 scholarships are awarded annually to students in Oregon and Siskiyou County, California.
