A Hermiston High School student will compete in the state Poetry Out Loud contest in Salem on Saturday.
Sofia Gispert Tello of Hermiston placed in the top three of the Central Region contest last Saturday in Salem. She will now compete in the state-wide contest on March 15.
Poetry Out Loud is a national recitation contest for high school students. The Oregon Arts Commission sponsors it in collaboration with the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation.
The state contest is scheduled for 1 p.m. March 15 in the library at Willamette University.
