HHS Track Teams Finish 3rd, 5th at State Meet

Hermiston High School girls finished third and boys fifth at the 5A OSAA Track & Field Championships at Eugene’s Hayward Field Saturday.

With 53 points, the girls finished behind Summit (189 points) and Bend (74 points). In all, 27 teams scored points at the 5A state meet.

With 39 points, the boys finished behind Summit, 71; Crater, 55; Sandy, 48; and Eagle Point, 41. In all 28 teams scored at the state 5A meet.

The girls 4×100 team of Ebony Wilson, Scout Reagan, Audrey Lincoln and Elsa Torres finished second in 48.83. The 4×400 team of Torres, Madison Wilson, Reagan and Lincoln finished second in 4:04.65.

Madison Wilson won second in 100 meter hurdles in 15.12 and a sixth in the 300 meter hurdles in 47.56.

Ebony Wilson finished fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 36 feet, 2 inches.

Maddy Juul placed third in the shot put at 37-00.50 feet and eighth in the discus with a toss of 108-10.

Also scoring were Audrey Lincoln, fifth in the 300 meter hurdles; Elsa Torres, eighth in the 400 meter dash; and Stephanie Miears, eighth in shot put at 35-01.75.

The boys 4×100 relay team of Joey Gutierrez, Vaemu Ena, Tyler Rohrman and Alexis Mercado finished second in 43.30. The 4×400 team of Rohrman, Felix Garcia, Isaac Sanchez and Mercado finished eighth in 3:32.23.

Rohrman finished second in the 100 meter hurdles in 14.68 and third in the 300 hurdles in 41.16.

Hiram Maciel won second place in the high jump with a leap of 6-feet-5.

Isaac Sanchez finished sixth in the 1,500 meters and eighth in the 800 meters.

In the 3A boys state meet, Umatilla finished 16th, Riverside 22nd and Irrigon 27th with 6 points.

In the 3A girls state meet, Riverside finished 25th, Irrigon 27th and Umatilla 32nd.
