Hermiston High School and West Park Elementary School were placed in Secure Room status around 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10.
Hermiston Police received information of an unknown transient male walking in the area of the schools screaming that he was going to shoot something.
“The school made the decision to go into Secure Room and our troops looked for the male but did not find him anywhere in the area,” said Hermiston Police Chief Jason Edmiston.
Edmiston added that no direct threat was made to the school.
The schools gave an all clear notification to parents at 10:05 a.m. and returned to the regular school day.
