The Umatilla/Morrow County Major Crime Team is conducting a homicide investigation after a Hermiston man’s body was found near an irrigation ditch, just northeast of Hermiston Wednesday morning.
The body of 28-year-old Jordan Deloen Crandall was found 75 feet west of Alpine Drive and adjacent to an irrigation ditch. Alpine Drive is north of Punkin Center Road. The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office received a report around 9:37 a.m. that a body had been discovered adjacent to Alpine Drive.
Sheriff’s deputies and Oregon State Police troopers arrived and found the body. Additional deputies and investigators, as well as OSP forensics personnel, arrived a short time later.
The sheriff’s office released few details, but said that based on the evidence found at the scene, the crime team is officially conducting a homicide investigation.
An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday at the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office.
