Howard Rankin Peck died Friday, March 27, 2015 at Canterbury Gardens Nursing facility in Longview, Wash., at the age of 92.

He was born June 29, 1922 at San Diego to Issaac Rankin and Marie Leslie (Carlyle) Peck.
He was raised in San Diego and graduated from San Diego High School. Howard served in the Army Air Force during World War II as a tail gunner in a heavy bomber and was a POW for 16 months in Stalag 17B.

On Oct. 22, 1947 he married Annamae Zenzola Peterson. Annamae died Dec. 13, 1989 and is buried in Hermiston. On June 22, 1990 Howard married Beverly Jean Buchanan in Hermiston and they have lived in Hammond for the past 10 years. Howard worked as a floor covering mechanic. He was the co-founder of the Coos Bay Art League in Coos Bay, a member of the Uma-West Art Group in Hermiston, and a member of the Trails End Art Association in Gearhart.

He is survived by wife, Beverly of Hammond; son, Terence Lyle Peck and wife Dominique Marguerite of Lake Oswego; bother, Lee Arnold Peck of Yuma, Ariz.; sister, Frances Bourdette of San Diego; grandsons, Tristan & Julian Guerree, both of France; stepchildren, Linda Jean Giddings and husband Ronald Nolan of Warrenton, Gerry Leigh Beauchamp and husband William of Auburn, Calif., and Alan Ray Buchanan of Warrenton; stepgrandchildren, Cynthia Giddings Sturgell, Larry Giddings, Lloyd Giddings, Vonda Buchanan, Bill Beauchamp, Jeff Beauchamp, and Kari Sonovich; step-great-grandchildren, Jennifer Bartlett, Laura Dow, Kenny Standring, Cody Luck, Derek Luck, Makayla Beauchamp, Hanna Beauchamp, Connor Beauchamp, Karleigh Beauchamp, Ashley Beauchamp, Alexis Giddings, Victoria Giddings, Kevin Giddings, Bryce Beauchamp, Luke Giddings, Ethen Giddings, and Jacob Vassalo.

Graveside funeral services with military honors will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the Hermiston Cemetery.
