On Sunday around 1:55 p.m., a Hermiston police officer discovered a stolen vehicle at 1735 N.E. Second St. The vehicle had been reported stolen by the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office. After interviewing people at the property, officers arrested “Kit” Michael Gibson, 36, 1750 N.E. North St., and charged him with possession of a weapon by a felon. Back on Aug. 25, police arrested five individuals at 1735 N.E. Second St., and charged them with various counts including possession of a stolen vehicle and drug charges. Firearms were also seized at the residence at the time.

On Sunday, officers also arrested Christopher S. Nelsen, 35, on two arrest warrants issued out of Benton County, Wash. Nelsen was residing at 1735 N.E. Second St.

Hermiston Police Chief Jason Edmiston said the residence is a haven for illegal activity.

“Once again this residence, where just two weeks ago we found stolen vehicles being dismantled, continues to be a magnet for those who choose to engage in illegal activities,” he said.

Sunday’s arrest was the second time in 18 months Gibson was arrested on a charge of unlawfully possessing a firearm.
