The Hermiston Police Department (HPD) rounded up several people on Tuesday that had outstanding warrants for their arrest.

“As we have done for several years, just before the start of the Umatilla County Fair season, members of the Hermiston Police Department in conjunction with partner agencies, conducted a small-scale operation looking for known offenders with active arrest warrants,” said Hermiston Police Chief Jason Edmiston.

The police chief said HPD has received numerous complaints this year about foot traffic in and around establishments with Oregon lottery machines. With that information, officers conducted walk-throughs of local businesses known to have lottery machines. At the end of the five-hour detail, seven people were arrested with many being lodged at the Umatilla County Jail in Pendleton.

Other agencies that assisted HPD included the Boardman Police Department, Umatilla Tribal Police Department, Milton-Freewater Police Department, Pendleton Police Department, Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, and the Oregon Counterdrug Task Force, as well as personnel assigned to the Blue Mountain Enforcement Narcotics Team.
