Icy road conditions caused school delays in much of Eastern Oregon this morning.
The Hermiston, Umatilla and Stanfield school districts were on a two-hour delay this morning due to slick road conditions. Schools in Boardman and Irrigon were also on a two-hour delay. Schools in Echo, however, remained on their normal schedule.
The National Weather Service forecast warmer weather the rest of the week with temperatures expected to stay above the freezing point. As a result, the Hermiston Warming Station will not be open tonight.
Rain and heavy winds are forecast for later in the week. Wind gusts could reach as high as 33 mph tonight and 28 mph Thursday night before tapering off near the end of the week. There’s an 80-percent chance of rain for tonight.
The bright side? Temperatures should be in the 50s during the weekend.
