Ida L. Graham Hodges died on Jan. 21, 2024 at her home in Stanfield just hours short of her 99th birthday.
She was born on Jan. 22, 1925 on a farm outside Millboro, S.D. to Roy D. Graham and Stella Goldie Graham.
Ida lived in South Dakota till 1936, when her family moved to North Plains. She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1942 and married Cecil Hodges on Aug. 9, 1944. They lived in Walla Walla, Wash. while Cecil was stationed at the Walla Walla airbase. After being discharged, Ida and Cecil lived in many different areas in Idaho, Oregon and California remodeling and reselling homes. Ida became quite accomplished in painting, wallpapering and assisting in the resale of homes. They had two children, Kathy and Sherill.
When Cecil passed away in September 1964, Ida was left alone to raise the girls. Ida worked at First National Bank in Ontario about eight years and then moved to Albany and worked as secretary of the Albany Assembly of God church. She lived in Hermiston about six years, enjoying grandchildren’s ball games and being involved in their lives. She then returned to Ontario, where she was involved in Christian Life Fellowship and also Ontario Quilt Club, making beautiful quilts for her family to enjoy. In 2012 she moved to Stanfield. Her life in Stanfield consisted of opportunities to enjoy great-grandchildren, and she was known for making many pies and much banana bread she shared often with friends.
She is survived by Mike and Kathy (daughter) Kinlock of Stanfield, Philip and Sherill (daughter) Proctor of Meridian, Idaho; five grandchildren, Amber Peterson, Jeremy Kinlock, Jessica Stevens, Jacqueline Stevens, and Erika Erickson; 12 great-grandchildren, Elijah, Rowan and Daniel Sneed, Amy and Blake Peterson, McKenzie, Elia and Braelynn Kinlock, Rickie Erickson, and
Pharaoh and Vita Lamptey. She will be missed and her memory treasured by all.
Ida was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Hodges, and her parents.
A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Crossroads Community Church, Stanfield.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Christian Life Fellowship, Ontario.
A private burial will be at the Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell, Idaho.
