The InterMountain Education Service District (IMESD) appointed a new member to its Board of Directors in July 2017.
New board member Ryan Neal will fulfill the remainder of the board term of former member Kathy Neal, who served on the board for 17 years and resigned in June.
Ryan Neal will represent IMESD’s Zone 1, which consists of Morrow County, Ione, Ukiah, Pilot Rock and Umatilla school districts.
Neal lives in Boardman and is the general manager of Port of Morrow Warehousing. He and his family moved back to Eastern Oregon in 2015, and Neal is an active volunteer in his community. He serves on the boards of the Kiwanis Club of Boardman and the Boardman Chamber of Commerce, volunteers for the Morrow County School District and is a member of the Boardman Community Development Association.
”One of my motivating reasons to move back to Eastern Oregon was the desire to volunteer and make a difference in the communities that have given so much to me,” he said. “I had a desire to be more involved with what was happening in the area of education as I am the parent of a young child. I feel that my background in business and my passion to see all kids in Eastern Oregon succeed will positively contribute to my participation on the IMESD Board.”
Board Chair Kelly Bissinger said the board is excited about working with Neal.
“Ryan’s conversations with us during the selection process revealed his passion for education and a strong desire to serve the students within our region,” Bissinger said. “We welcome his insight and business experience.”
Ryan’s term expires June 30, 2019.
