For the fourth year in a row, Santa’s elves turned out to light up Boardman for Christmas on Saturday.
Even though the weather was on the chilly side, almost 40 volunteers spent the morning decorating the city of Boardman. Made up mostly of Riverside High School students, the volunteers placed wooden cut outs, thousands of Christmas lights, garland, and wreaths at City Center, and the four areas adjacent to the interstate. The week of Thanksgiving volunteers plan to place the “Merry Christmas” and “Feliz Navidad” lighted signs at the Splash Pad Park along N.E. Front Street.
The city of Boardman sponsors the Christmas Decoration Committee each year. Their goal is to decorate Boardman for the Christmas season for everyone to enjoy. The committee depends heavily on volunteers to help decorate and undecorate.
Committee Chair Sandy Toms said this year’s turn out of volunteers was the biggest. She was happy to see so many young people help out. The Christmas Decoration Committee would like to thank everyone who helped decorate Boardman for Christmas.
