Ingeborg Hare of Umatilla passed away on Oct. 16, 2022 in Kennewick, Wash. at the age of 94.
She was born on Sept. 19, 1928 in Halle, Germany to Richard and Frieda Fogle Thomas.
Ingeborg grew up and attended schools in Bremerhaven, Germany. During World War II she met Laurence Hare, who was serving in the U.S. Army. The couple were united in marriage in 1947 while he was serving in Germany. The couple then returned to the United States and they renewed their vows in Waltham, Mass. The couple lived in Sidney, Neb. for many years, where Laurence continued his career in the Army.
In 1967, the family moved to Hermiston. They purchased a home in Umatilla in 1970, where she had resided for the past 52 years. Ingeborg worked throughout her career in area restaurants and bars, where she enjoyed sharing her quick wit with clients, making them laugh.
Family was very important to Ingeborg. She loved being a grandma to her five grandchildren and a full-time grandma to Shawn, Erik and Stephanie. She also enjoyed her long-distance grandmother relationship with Matthew and Patrick. She was meticulous in her home and yard upkeep and took great pride in her home.
She is survived by a son, Richard (Cindy) O’Hare and their children, Matthew and Patrick; three additional grandchildren, Shawn, Erik and Stephanie; and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Laurence; daughter, Dee Mills; parents; and a brother, Heinz.
A private interment will be in Desert Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Irrigon.
