Two Rivers Correctional Institution (TRCI) was placed on lockdown Wednesday, April 16, after two dozen inmates got into an altercation.
At approximately 9:06 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, the Umatilla prison was placed on lockdown after inmates got into some altercations in one of the prison’s recreation yards. According to the Oregon Department of Corrections, prison staff responded and gained control of the inmates.
A total of 24 inmates were placed in special housing for their involvement in the altercations. Two inmates required outside medical treatment for minor injuries.
Oregon State Police was notified and an ongoing investigation is being conducted to determine the cause of the altercation.
TRCI is a medium- and minimum-security facility in Umatilla that houses approximately 1,800 inmates.
