An 18-year-old was killed Monday evening in a crash on Interstate 84 near La Grande.
According to the Oregon State Police, Hanna Doig-Cashell, of La Grande, was killed around 5:46 p.m., when the car she was a passenger in left the roadway around milepost 256 in the eastbound lane and overturned.
The car, a 2008 Toyota Solara, was driven by Melissa Book, 19, of La Grande. She and another passenger, Alexis Browning, 18, of La Grande, suffered serious injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals. The accident happened as Book was attempting to pass another vehicle.
Both eastbound lanes of Interstate 84 were closed for approximately three hours following the crash. One lane was opened for two hours until both lanes were re-opened.
