Fans of duck races, car shows, dancing, music, games and – of course – watermelons will want to spend the day in Irrigon on Saturday for the annual Irrigon Watermelon Festival.
Located at Irrigon Marina Park, the festival gets under way with breakfast from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. followed by a parade at 10 a.m.
Among the activities taking place during the festival include boat rides offered by the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, a car show, a duck race, a water slide and games for kids of all ages.
Raffles will be held throughout the day and entertainment will be provided with performances by the Three River Saxtette, the Round-Up City Cloggers, Vaughn Jensen, The Trio, the Sahara Dancers and the Frazer Wambeke Trio.
No need to pack a lunch – food and beverages will be available all day including hamburgers, hotdogs, nachos, pie and there might even be a few watermelons donated by Bellinger Farms, as well.
The festival, funded by the Morrow County Unified Recreation District, wraps up at 9 p.m. with street dance put on by Desert Sounds.
