The Irrigon Chamber of Commerce put the spotlight on some deserving citizens during its recent Citizen’s Recognition Banquet.

Arnold “Joe” Theisen was named Citizen of the Year during the April 25 banquet held at the Stokes Landing Senior Center. Other winners included Business Person of the Year Barb Huwe, Student of the Year Jordan Connell, Educator of the Year Carma Barron, Volunteer of the Year Meredith Young, and the Public Safety Award went to the Irrigon Ambulance Crew.

Christine Sorensen, treasurer for the Irrigon Chamber of Commerce, said about 100 people were in attendance.

“The focus was on people enjoying themselves by renewing old friendships, enriching friendships by introducing others, seeing people they had heard of or read about as they hovered over the appetizer table,” she said.

Dinner was served by the Irrigon High School Key Club and James Creason performed the background music for the evening.

“All in all, people of all ages enjoyed the evening together laughing, talking, and celebrating Irrigon,” said Sorensen.
