According to a consumer advocacy website, there are few better places for home ownership in the state of Oregon than Irrigon.
As part of its state-by-state series, NerdWallet has analyzed the federal data and found the best places for homeownership in Oregon – and Irrigon is ranked fifth.
“Based on our findings, homebuyers looking for affordable homes in stable communities should seek out Oregon’s small towns and Portland suburbs,” said Maggie Clark, an analyst with NerdWallet.
NerdWallet crunched the numbers for all 150 Oregon cities with more than 2,000 residents to find the best cities for homeownership in the state. An interesting finding is that all of the top 10 cities had fewer than 5,000 residents.
The website, in its analysis, cited recreation opportunities on the Columbia River as one of the determining factors in Irrigon’s high ranking, along with its annual Watermelon Festival. NerdWallet also found that home ownership in Irrigon consumes just 24.2 percent of the median monthly household income, the smallest percentage on its list.
