The Irrigon Knights opened their football season with a dominating performance at home, rolling past the Riverside Pirates on Friday, 47-8.
The Knights (1-0) went into halftime with a commanding 47-0 lead and coasted to victory in the second half.
Irrigon quarterback Nate Verley was as efficient as he could be, connecting on 7 of 8 passes for 128 yards in the air. He also threw a touchdown. Freddy Vera ran for 128 yards and a touchdown on just seven carries. He also ran back a punt for an 82-yard touchdown against Riverside.
The Knights will take on Enterprise at Kennison Field in Hermiston this Friday, while Riverside (0-1) plays host to Union on Friday. Both games start at 7 p.m.
