The Stanfield School District has hired Steve Sheller as the new principal for Stanfield Secondary School for the 2018-19 school year.
Sheller is currently a science teacher, coach and yearbook advisor at Irrigon Jr/Sr High School.
Sheller has been offered the position, which will be considered by the Stanfield School Board on Wednesday, March 14.
“Mr. Sheller will be a great addition to our staff — his vision for school culture and his ability to relate to kids are two things that really stand out about him,” said Beth Burton, Stanfield superintendent. “He is passionate and fully invested in the things he is a part of, and we are really excited to have him on board!”
Sheller has been a teacher for 20 years and has taught in Umatilla and Hermiston, plus he was the head football coach in Stanfield four years ago. He has been in Irrigon since 2014.
Sheller earned his bachelor’s degree from Western Oregon University and his Master’s in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University.
Sheller will begin his new position on July 1, 2018.
