Jack Ray Cooper of Pilot Rock (formerly of Hermiston) passed away in Hermiston on Dec. 3, 2022 at the age of 69.
He was born on Dec. 24, 1952 in Hermiston to George and Beatrice Smith Cooper.
Jack grew up in Hermiston where he attended schools, graduating from Hermiston High School in the class of 1972. He attended community college in the Tri-Cities for a short time. Jack worked as a section hand for the Union Pacific Railroad for 23 years until retiring. He had lived in Hermiston, Baker City, Sumpter, Spokane, and most recently in Pilot Rock.
Jack was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed RV-ing, riding his Harley Davidson and participating in charity rides. He coached wrestling for his three sons in Baker City and was a devoted father and grandfather.
He is survived by his partner, Glynis Newman; daughter, Dawn Marie Cooper; sons, Justin Cooper, Jarrod Cooper and Jake Cooper; three stepsons, Ryan Greene, Travis Greene and Xavier Cadaret; 11 grandchildren; and two brothers, Gary Cooper and Jess Cooper.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sheila.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later time.
Family suggests memorial donations in Jack’s memory be made to any local Toys for Tots program.
